Compare paddle boards and essential kit sold in the UK. Many UK rivers and canals need a waterways licence, so read the notes below first.
Check the law before you buy. On Canal & River Trust waterways, paddleboards need a valid licence; a Paddle UK waterways licence covers around 5,000 miles of inland waterways including the Trust's canals and rivers, or short-term licences can be bought direct from the Trust. GOV.UK says boats on inland waterways such as rivers and canals usually need registering or licensing, with fines of up to GBP 1,000 for using one without an up-to-date licence. RLSS UK advises always wearing a buoyancy aid (PFD) when paddleboarding, even for strong swimmers.
